Birth and Early Life
Abune Gorgorios was born on May 20, 1920, in Simada, Gayint district, Begemder. He learned Psalms and chants from an early age.

His Grace Abune Gorgorios played an important role in the spiritual life of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo community in London.
Religious Journey
He served in Debre Tsige Mariam and Debre Abay Monasteries, later teaching and becoming a chant master. He also served in Jerusalem and London.
Founding Our Church
While in exile in London in 1994, His Grace Abune Gorgorios helped found Debre Semayat Medhanealem and Amlak Wesebe Gabriel Church.
Our Church Today
The ministry has since moved to a new church building and continues to serve the faithful community.
